Pre-Feeders

Hamilton Feed Systems Inc. has numerous solutions available for efficient storage, elevating and loading of parts. Supply hoppers, belt elevators, high loaders and hopper elevators all have specific design characteristics for a particular kind of environment and application.

Supply Hoppers

Supply Hoppers are a combination of a storage hopper and light capacity vibratory trough designed to gently convey bulk parts into the parts feeding equipment. They easily integrate into your parts handling system and are available in mild or stainless steel with hopper capacities ranging from 1/4, to 10 cubic feet. The slide gate on the front of the hopper can be adjusted to control the depth of parts on the vibratory trough and the amplitude of the vibration can be adjusted to obtain the optimum feed rate. A level sensor either mechanical or optical is provided for use with the parts feeder to provide a demand, signal for automatic operation.

Special Designs are available for heavy parts, parts that tangle, or for other unusual characteristics.

Elevating Supply Hoppers

These units come in two basic styles. The first style combines a supply hopper with a vibratory trough and an inclined cleated belt to elevate bulk parts to a parts feeder. The vibratory trough feeder assures a controlled flow of parts from the hopper to the belt elevator, and is gentler on the bulk product.

The second style feeds parts directly from the supply hopper onto a cleated belt. This is advantageous in applications where product tends to bridge, preventing the parts from flowing readily from the throat of the supply hopper, but has a greater tendancy to damage the parts through part to part interaction.

A level sensor either mechanical or optical is provided for use with the parts feeder to provide a demand, signal for automatic operation. The Belt Elevator is available with discharge heights ranging from 3.5 to over 10 feet, and can be supplied in 5 to 20 cubic foot capacities. Bin vibrators may be required to assist part flow from the hopper dependant upon your part design. Optionally we can provide stainless steel part contact surfaces with FDA-approved belts, linings for the hopper, vibratory trough and discharge chute to reduce part marking or damage and moulded belt side-walls to reduce the possibility of jamming.
